Everyone is at work and school and I have the day to myself again. I've been uploading pictures and checking out other blogs in our ring. I feel inspired to do something different than what I have been doing lately.
I am wanting to try some still life art work. I have not done anything like that since High School. So it has been a long time. Now I need to pic a subject to draw. I think I am going to sketch my subject first then decide what I want to do next.

While I've been trying to get my blog going I have had many things going on at the same time. My Dad passed away this month and for a couple of months I had been trying to spend more time with him. He was a good Dad and loved all of us and a hard worker. I have been art journaling since his Memorial on October 14th. I wanted to see what I would create out of all of the emotion. I will be posting the journal pages soon. I've noticed that these journal pages I created are mostly done in green and blue with a little lavender. Green and blue are my favorite base colors to work with. I  think my composition is evolving.

Today, I want to share what I am currently working on. I have been going through the Somerset magazines to gain inspiration for my work and learning new techniques. So, the first thing I did was I went through my oldest magazines and began looking up on the web the artist and finding out more about them. One of my favorite Mixed Media artist is Bernadette Huff. I am very inspired by her work. I love the Renaissance flair she brings to her pieces. I hope one day to own one of her boxes I saw on her website. I encourage anyone to check out her artwork is amazing!
So, the first pieces of art work I wanted to share are my art journal cover which is inspired by a Youtube video I will share with you soon and a page from that journal that is inspired by Huff's whimsical floral hair in some of her pieces. The art journal I made took about an hour and it was made with scraps of old vintage materials mixed with new. I really like the upcycle type of thinking. :) Making old into new things.
